Juan Constain is currently a Manager, Regional Innovation at MIT CoLab and a graduate of the Department of Urban Studies and Planning at MIT. Before coming to MIT as a student, Juan worked with CoLab in Colombia for over three years in the design and implementation of capacity building and leadership development programs in the Pacific Region. His work is focused in supporting the Inclusive Regional Development Program in the Americas. In the past, Juan worked for Ruta N, Medellin’s Innovation Agency in developing strategies for community engagement for the Innovation District project. He earned his degree in Urban Management and Development (2013) and a postgraduate degree in Urban Law (2015) from Universidad del Rosario in Bogota, Colombia. His practice and research interests revolve around the relationship between innovation and inequality and the conditions that can support advancing economic democracy through innovation and entrepreneurship.
